Catherston Stud is extremely proud of their excellent facilities at Croft
Farm, Over Wallop. The main house is positioned centrally within 100 acres of rolling chalk grassland
which allows easy supervision of all the grounds. Post and rail paddocks house the visiting mares and
foals whilst the remainder of the grazing is surrounded by Tornado fencing which allows maximum visibility
of the grazing stock. There is a small, well sheltered paddock, immediately in front of the house for
turning out the newly born foals and larger paddocks, with field shelters, for our other residents. The
American barn type stable block can accommodate twenty horses with an adjacent traditional stable yard housing
the foaling boxes and accommodation for visiting mares. The stables are large, light and airy with rubber
floors and walkways.
Catherston Stud has a large naturally lit indoor school with small viewing area, covered
horse-walker and lunge ring, an all weather outdoor arena, indoor covering yard and adjacent
laboratory and veterinary room. Croft Farm also boasts excellent off road hacking, wash boxes,
laundry facilities, heated tack rooms and visitors rest room to ensure comfort of not only our
equine guests but our clients and staff.
The stud’s foundation stallion Dutch Courage has been the most influential warmblood sire of
competition horses in Great Britain. His stock have excelled in every sphere, both here and
abroad, and his breeding lines are keenly sought after as his stock have proved to be forward
thinking, active, athletic performers.
Catherston Stud is proud to present a high quality selection of some of the best
competition stallions in Great Britain. We can offer a suitable sire for every type of mare for
all disciplines. Catherston Stud has been leading the field in the promotion of British
Breeding and we are delighted that the British Horse Database will assist in the recognition of
British bred stock worldwide. However, in order for this to happen and to be successful it is
important that we all unite and register all of our stock with recognised studbooks.
Catherston Stud's stallions and mares have produced numerous winners nationally and
internationally in all three major disciplines. By using these proven stallions with good
bloodlines and tremendous ability the discerning breeder does have a better chance of producing
an athletic youngster with good market value. At Catherston Stud there are many lovely young
horses available for sale now and in the future.
